Stamford receives a $392000 Community Development grant from HUD as phase two of a three year $1.2 million revitalization program. Stamford Gains 14 Percent In City Sales Tax Receipts
City hall receipts show Stamford collecting 81,063.35 in 1980 sales tax for July totals, up 14 percent from 1980 July, with Knox City leading area with 36 percent rise. July payments include Anson 5,469.03 Hamlin 5,885.72 Haskell 9,346.97 and Knox City 5,103.80. Stamford’s second July check adds 15,995.40, boosting year to date to 97,058.75 with next payment due Sept 15.

Students return after three months of vacation as Stamford’s three schools begin classes at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday. Sheriff Gillilan Rescues 19 Month Old After Crash
Jones County Sheriff Doyce Gillilan saved the life of a 19 month old infant by mouth to mouth resuscitation after a one car accident east of Anson. Gillilan arrived at the scene with Anson volunteer firemen and transported the non breathing baby to Anson General Hospital where revival was possible.

Tickets On Sale For Stamford School Football Season
Season tickets are on sale at the Stamford School Tax Office at 128 South Swenson. Reserve seats for six home games cost $15. Ticket holders from 1979 can renew through Friday, Sept. 5. The first varsity home game is against San Angelo Lakeview at 8 p.m. September 12.
