Formation Of New Road District Planned At Anson
A Friday night meeting in Anson discussed forming a new road district to build Highway 40 from the north part of the district and No 4 from Anson to Road district No 1 near Radium, with intoral roads to connect to No 585. The group backed a district bond issue to fund the program and delegated the road committee to consult residents district wide. Highway 50 was slated for concrete and No 4 for asphalt with proper base. a petition is expected before the commissioners court on August 15.

Gas cooking demonstration draws crowd at Gambill’s

Mrs Minnie Oliver, wife of LD Miver, was buried at Capron Cemetery last Friday August 10 at 1 30 pm. Rev J H Hamblen conducted the service. Kinney and Jones arranged the burial. Formerly Miss Minnie Cornelius daughter of Ss K Cornelius she was 20 years old. She and her husband had lived in California but she was with relatives at the time of her death Thursday August.

Contract Let For Addition To High School Building
Jones Heathers were awarded the contract Tuesday morning for the addition to the high school building. Work will proceed at once and be completed in forty days, barring severe weather and material delays. An auditor team will be used for a study during progress. Several other contracts related to the school building program will be let next week for the Industrial Building, Home Economies Cottage and Elementary facilities.
Stamford Chosen as Convention City for Exchangites
Stamford was selected as the convention city for the Exchange Club of Texas at a Houston meeting last Saturday after Austin withdrew. The Stamford delegation, including W. G. Swenson and Mrs. Terry Andrews, helped secure the selection. StamfordWomen and local members contributed to a well received Exchange Orchestra led by Mr Andrews, with a Galveston side trip following the event.

W J Bure Jr of Stamford is appointed to a special Pershing committee of Texas Legionnaires for the American Legion national convention in San Antonio from October 12. The appointment was made by Department Commander Walton L Howl. Bure is active in Stamford post affairs and serves as executive committee member for the seventeenth district and commander of the Wirth Post.
