Maude Thomasson Crowson 68, born in Burnet County, died Monday morning at a daughter's home in Lueders after frail health since a hip injury. Funeral Tuesday at Lueders First Baptist Church. burial in Lueders cemetery. Survivors include three sons, four daughters, 22 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and relatives in Stamford and Lueders.

City Approves Preliminary Plans for East Subdivision
The city council approved preliminary plans for a new subdivision east of the city to be developed by A M G Swenson. The tract lies between Hudson Road and Compton Street and Golf Street and Farm to Market Road, with streets 48 feet wide and 12 foot alleys and water sewer reimbursements to come from utility revenues. Land widths range from 102 to 114 feet. A new street will run between Landon and Compton, and the project will be built in three blocks, starting with the Hudson Road to London Street section. The council postponed annexation election by passing second reading, delaying extension of city limits into the southeast Town.

Bumper Maize Harvest Nears Half Way Mark
Stamford harvesters report maize yields at 2400 to 3000 pounds per acre east of Stamford with good quality maize selling at 1.60 dollars per bushel. About 100 carloads have left the area by rail and road through Wednesday afternoon, including shipments from Tuxedo Avoca and Stamford.

Boat Licenses Now Available at City Hall

Man Injured Near Lueders Dies Thursday
E. L. Woodcock of Dallas, injured in a highway crash between Lueders and Albany on August 2, died at Stamford Sanitarium Thursday night. His wife, driver of the other car, also injured and moved to a Dallas hospital with a broken leg and broken ribs. Kinney Funeral Home handled local arrangements. Woodcock, 62, was general agent for Norfolk and Western Railway in Dallas. His sons E. H. Woodcock of Lubbock and Allen Woodcock of Dallas arrived to assist. Driver J. M. Hickman III of Fort Worth was released and recuperating at his parents home in Aspermont.
