City Bicyclists Warned To Stay Off Sidewalks
Chief of Police G G Flournoy warned that a city ordinance prohibits bicycle riding on sidewalks and charges will be filed after August 5 for violations. He invited young riders to meet Friday evening to discuss bicycle hazards.

Applicants Count for Pension Under Revised Law
In Jones county one hundred forty two applicants have registered for old age assistance under the amended law. J Luther Watson, Old Age Assistance worker for Jones and Shackelford counties, said registrations are rapid and it may take months to reach all. June checks totaled 8321 for 536 recipients. July rolls not yet sent. Watson notes regular office days are the second and fourth Wednesdays in Anson, with August second Wednesday exception due to vacation. Workers are overloaded and must move quickly with minimal interruptions.

Sixty Scouts Home From 4300 Mile Western Tour
Sixty Scouts and Scouters from Stamford Tuxedo Haskell Weinert and Anson returned home after a 16 day tour of New Mexico Arizona and California covering about 4300 miles. They traveled from Stamford to Roswell through Las Cruces the Organ Mountains Yuma Orange County and Los Angeles visiting sites from White Sands to the Olympic Stadium and the Golden Gate Exposition. The trip included the All American Canal Boulder Dam area and a view of many movie stars before continuing to San Francisco Oakland and Treasure Island with a stop at Gen Grant National Park and a Juarez visit before finishing near El Paso.
