Bloodmobile misses quota in Stamford blood drive
The Red River Regional Red Cross bloodmobile collected 72.2 percent of its 90 unit quota in Stamford on Monday busy at St. John's United Methodist Church where 65 units were drawn from 67 volunteers. Donors signed up in 4 to 5 pm and 5 to 6 pm with a final hour, aided by many volunteers including Jay Lopez, Glen McCandless, Ailsie Lusk, Gary Collins and dozens more.

Air Show Planned by Stamford Chamber of Commerce
The Stamford Aviation Committee voted to sponsor an Air Show at Stamford Airport, possibly in October with a Sunday morning breakfast, skydiving displays, new airplane exhibits, and a Dyess Air Force Base demonstration. If October fails, plans shift to next spring, with an FAA pilot safety program discussed for November or December. Committee chair is Clifford Beggs, with Norris Russell and others.

Stamford council weighs good and bad water news
The Stamford city council held a workshop with citizens as Lake Stamford remains a near two year supply while future water system upgrades could cost up to 4.8 million dollars. A bank fund opened at First National Bank in Stamford for Martin Rodriquez a Tuxedo area resident injured in a July 13 two car crash at FM 1662 and Texas 92. He is in intensive care at Hendrick Medical Center Abilene in critical but improved condition. The other driver James Earl Weyerts of Hamlin sustained a broken leg and is hospitalized in Stamford Memorial Hospital in good condition. Donations can be made at the bank.
