Encampment Ends Most Successful Year In History
The seventh annual session of the Lueders Baptist Encampment closed with the highest success level to date. Col. R. L. Penick notes 1031 students enrolled and over 450 certificates issued, praising the program as among the best in the South. He also plans a cooperative project to plant hundreds of pecan trees on the grounds with Stamford firms.

Scouts break attendance records at Lueders encampment
Two hundred scouts gathered at the Baptist Encampment grounds for the Chisholm Trail area encampment in Lueders breaking all previous attendance records. Cooper resigns as Stamford Chamber of Commerce manager
W S Cooper tendered his resignation to the board of directors last Saturday and it takes effect within thirty days. The resignation was accepted and a committee will recommend a new manager. Cooper, in charge since February, did not comment on future plans beyond liking Stamford and likely remaining. Two-Story Martin Home Burns On Gould Street
Fire destroyed the two story residence of W. D. Martin at 608 East Gould Street injuring little beside the structure. City fire marshal C. L. Meeker said wiring in the upper portion likely started the blaze which hit at 10 30 p m and was out of control when units arrived. The new city pumper helped prevent spread to adjacent homes. D B Hager’s house next door suffered slight damage and furniture in the opposite residence was affected. Martin carried 4000 on the house and 2500 on furniture.

Mrs. Schonerstedt Dies At Age 83 In Stamford Area
Mrs. Henrietta Schonerstedt aged 83 died at her home near Stamford on Tuesday. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Highland cemetery at 5 30 conducted by Rev. Kluge Lutheran pastor of Lagerton. She was born in Germany July 26 1846 and is survived by her husband, son Fred Schonerstedt, and two daughters. Kinney Undertaking Company oversaw arrangements.
