The Goble Melody Chorus directed by Mrs. R Grady Bowdry closed the Stamford Music Club year with a diverse program at the high school home economics cottage. Mothers were guests as choristers performed popular and semi classical pieces with Miss Dorothy Lowe and Miss Eva Grace Knutson delivering solos and piano accompaniment. Stamford Wins Opening Game In League Schedule
Stamford defeated Goree 8 to 5 in the league opener here Sunday. Goree led briefly in the fourth, but Stamford tied, then pulled ahead with three runs in the sixth aided by hits from S. Portwood McKeever King and E Portwood. Pitcher Raymond Day allowed five hits as Stamford improved to 1 0 with next games at Hamlin and against Haskell on May 5.

Weinert Man Faints At Wheel Of Car
Fred Derr of Weinert was seriously injured Sunday night when he lost control of the car he was driving and hit a tree on North Wenson avenue. Derr had been ill for several weeks and fainted, driving his body into the steering wheel. He was taken to Stamford sanitarium with a lung injury and has remained in serious condition, receiving oxygen treatment.

Mrs Mary J Rogers aged 85 died unexpectedly at her son’s home after breakfast. A Mississippi born Confederate veteran husband J A C Rogers died earlier. Funeral at 2 PM at Knox City with Rev Thompson and Rev Ponder. She lived in Stamford 20 years and is survived by three great grandchildren, siblings in Rule, and nieces as flower bears. Burial in Rule Cemetery by Osment Barrow Funeral Home Stamford in charge.

A large gathering of Odd Fellows Rebekahs and friends met in the Odd Fellows hall on Wednesday evening for the 116th anniversary of Odd Fellowship. A formal feast opened the event followed by a program with piano solo tap dance by Jane and Douglas Duke a reading on the origin of Rebekahs by Miss Lou Williams and a brief history of Odd Fellowship in the United States presented by R. Easter Egg Hunt Delights Stamford Children At Exchange Club
About 400 Stamford youngsters flocked to Harmon Park for the Exchange Club Easter egg hunt. Prizes of one dollar went to prize egg finders in each grade, while 4000 candy eggs were hidden for all participants. Henry led the event with aid from club members and volunteers. The club plans another such Easter activity next year.
