Two Stamford men Bill Swenson and G W Fuqua are at Victorville California for combat training after earning their wings and commissions as second lieutenants. Both 20, Stamford High graduates, completed two years of college before service and did three months of Air Forces college work at Canyon. Fuqua trained at Wickenburg and Lancaster while Swenson trained at Ryan Field and Minter Field before finalizing pilot training at Williams Field Chandler Arizona.

J. P. Hokanson Dies by Gunshot in Ericksdahl Community
Funeral for 67 year old landowner J P Hokanson will be Friday at Bethel Lutheran church in the Ericksdahl community with burial in the churchyard. Hokanson died Tuesday of a self inflicted gunshot wound in an inquest led by Judge J F Lindsey and local officials. He was born in Sweden August 1 1876 and immigrated with his wife Ida Christina Lindegren in 1902, later settling in Jones county and the Ericksdahl area. He survived by his wife two sons Herold and Allin two daughters Otis Firth Peterson and Roth Strand 11 grandchildren and a sister in Copenhagen Denmark.
