Reunion Relays field hosts 17 teams from across area
Seventeen track teams from Muleshoe to Wylie travel to Stamford for the fourth annual Reunion Relays. Division I squads include Bangs Haskell Holliday Jayton and two Stamford JV teams plus Anson Clyde Cochoma Coleman Colorado City Eastland Idalou Lockney Merkel Muleshoe Olney Winters. Friday honors Stamford 1969 sprint relay team with 42.7 seconds. A hamburger feed for exes and helpers is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at the high school cafeteria. Joe Smith Upshaw is exes president.

The city will test its severe weather warning siren starting this Saturday at noon from April 14 and continuing on all Saturdays through May except when threatening weather is in the area. The siren atop the high school gym will sound unless weather conditions require cancellation.

Bloodmobile seeks ninety units in Stamford event
On Tuesday April 17 the Red River Regional Red Cross Blood Center will run a Stamford bloodmobile at St. John's United Methodist Church from 3 to 7 p.m. The goal is ninety units to meet local blood needs. Donors 18 to 65 weighing at least 110 pounds may give every 56 days. 17 year olds may donate with parental consent. The process takes about an hour including registration and a brief medical check.

Stamford acquired a new mayor, a woman city council member, and a new school board member after Saturday's elections. Gary Mathews was defeated by W. M. Blackburn 465 to 234. Eden by Jerome McDonough will be presented Thursday evening at 7 30 in Stamford High School Auditorium. With best actress two on the all star cast and three honorable mentions the play went to Midland area contest earning one all star and two honorable mentions. An autograph party follows with cast in costume as mothers and Thespians hostesses. Admission is 1.
