Bernard Madd aged nineteen died October 19 1909 at his father W Madd's home in Springfield Kentucky after typhoid fever followed by pneumonia. He was cared for by his brother Dr J A Mudd and his parents. Funeral services were to be held at St Dominie's Church at 9:30 the following morning.
A sad death occurred in Lowsville on Sunday of Alphonsus L Shader aged 89. He married about five weeks ago while on honeymoon in New York and contracted typhoid fever. After a relapse he died after weeks of illness. Funeral services were held at St Francis of Rome church with Father White officiating. Shader was a longtime employee of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad and Adams Express, and had often visited Springfield since the railroad arrived.
Mrs Rose Medley widow of Thomas W Medley died at home in St Rose country at 2 am aged 64 after a rapid decline from consumption and pneumonia. Funeral at St Rose church. Survived by sons Fonza and Willie Medley, daughter Mrs Nora Smith and daughters Margaret Catherine and Della Medley. Known for charity and care for the sick.
The Washington County Tobacco Warehouse Co and the Farmers Loose Leaf Tobacco Warehouse Co announce openings October 27 with breaks starting next Wednesday October 2 for loose leaf tobacco sales. Eight to ten tobacco companies will have buyers in attendance. Sales occur daily except Mondays. farmers in Washington county can avoid shipping to Louisville by selling locally, aiming at handsome prices.
A village reports a string of accidents last week. J. C. Polin fractured his hip after falling from an embankment at Tucker bridge. his condition is improving. Will Shewmaker fractured his right leg when a horse reared and fell, reinjuring the same leg. Montgomery Reed was crushed by a stump while dishing wheat, breaking both bones in his right leg. doctors Hyatt and Hopper attended. Arthur Hardin fractured his collar bone after a fall near Reed’s house.
Mr John Nally aged about seventy six died at his home Monday October eleventh. Born in Washington county he moved to Nelson four years ago with his wife Mary Brinco. He fathered nine children all surviving with his wife. An excellent Christian kind husband and father, he is mourned by many friends. Funeral services were held at St Josephs church with interment in St Josephs cemetery.
Mr Wm Robertson Selecman and Miss Virginia Royalty wed at the bride’s home last Thursday at 8 AM. Rev Wm Harrison Williams officiated in a ceremony attended by families and close friends. The home was decorated with cut flowers, ferns, and an arch of Southern smilax with a wedding bell. A musical program preceded the vows. Bridesmaid Miss Evelyn Royalty wore pink silk. Shaker Robertson was best man. The bride wore amethyst silk and carried white roses and lilies of the valley. After the ceremony the couple left for a tour of Eastern Kentucky. Both are prominent Springfield youths from well known local families.
Miss Fannie Hardin McElroy and Mr Shaker Robertson were married at 9 20 this morning at the Seelbach Hotel in Louisville. Rev R E C Lawson officiated in a quiet ceremony attended by family and a few intimate friends. The couple will return to Springfield tomorrow and host a reception Friday evening at the bride's home. Both come from prominent Washington county families.
Announcement reports the marriage of Miss Ruby Wright to Mr. Robert Lynne Bush on June 12 at the bride’s home in Terre Haute Indiana. The couple met while he attended school there and kept the union secret from his parents until later visits revealed the marriage.

In Frankfort , Ky , October 15 1909 news reaches Terre Haute that former Senator William Lindsay has died after months of illness. The renowned attorney contracted uremic poisoning following bladder trouble and waned steadily. His daughter Mrs Luke of Cincinnati and her husband were with him at the end.
