Twelve Year Old Indicted for Murder in Salt River Shooting
Harrodsburg October 12. John Marshall aged twelve was indicted by the grand jury for the murder of Peter Crockett also a boy of about twelve. Marshall stole a pistol from his father and fired at his companions during a Salt River swimming outing, killing Crockett.

In Harrodsburg Kentucky on October 12 Peter Vandivier a county blacksmith attempted to kill his wife and son set fire to their home and then cut his own throat. The family and neighbor Albert McDonelly survived as Vandivier attacked with a pistol razor and fire. Vandivier had been freed on condition of leaving the state after a prior trial and planned to move the family to Louisville with plans to sell property next week.
