Once Jennie was Mrs Jennie Gray a Flemingsburg widow, nine weeks into the marriage she departed after a fortune teller warned of betrayal. Frederick found a goodbye note and expressed gratitude that the children accompanied their mother.

Tragic shooting ends life of four year old in stable
In Central City Kentucky Russell Malloy was fatally shot by a rifle held by seven year old William Hanghian who, while examining the weapon with Malloy, attempted to return it to its box. The hammer struck Malloy in the neck area, breaking the collar bone. Hanghian, after realizing the severity, fled to seek a doctor and expressed fatal resolve saying he would die if Malloy dies. The two boys had been inseparable playmates.
