In Poortown local fans enjoyed a high scoring affair as Litsey beat Springfield 26 to 15. Rogers started for Springfield, but Poortown hitters hit his curves for five runs. Tommy Colvin pitched eight innings and Haynes kept Springfield to few hits. Litsey plans to return the game at High School Park Saturday.

Forged Checks in Springfield Forsyth Case
A slick stranger forged checks in Springfield, totaling 61 dollars, drawn on Geo Mulhean’s account and written to G C White. The checks were indorsed to others, including Woodson Moss of Winchester. A traveling man posing as a Van Camp Packing Co salesman passed a fraudulent $10 check in Chicago. The forger remains at large.

Central University Debaters Triumph Over Georgetown College
Jack McChord and John Shuck McElroy Jr led Central University to a victory in a Danville debate against Georgetown College on the question of repealing the Fifteenth Amendment. McChord, also named valedictorian for four years of study, will give the valedictory on June 9.

Springfield High School Commencement at the Opera House
The Springfield High School held its annual commencement at the Opera House last night with well trained students presented by Prof. Colvin and his assistants. A large crowd applauded the performances, notably the chorus and double vocal quartet. The Balcony Scene from Romeo and Juliet by Rick etts Boulware and Miss Susanna Hays was beautifully staged. There were no graduates this year, so no valedictory or diplomas.

Tobacco firm leases warehouse near Henderson North Carolina
The Washington County Warehouse Company leases its redrying plant below town to the J. P. Taylor Company of Henderson for one year. The J. P. Taylor Company, a large concern with four Kentucky branches, will use the site to handle and dry tobacco and to redry tobacco upon request. Work on converting the facility into a loose leaf market will start immediately. The warehouse will offer selling, storing, or bundling tobacco any way growers desire and can accommodate any pool revival. Those wishing to store tobacco may do so while the market remains strong.

House Fire Destroys Medley Home in Owensboro
Mr. Thomas A. Medley, once of this town and now living in Owensboro, suffered a serious loss when his house burned last week. The blaze started about 11 a.m. with Mrs. Medley and the children absent. By arrival the fire was beyond control and the home, along with furniture and clothing, was lost. insurance of 3750 dollars will not cover the building.

Closing Revival at Mt Zion Praise for Deep Impressions
Rev Robt Johnson of Wilmore led a two week revival at Mt Zion that ended Sunday with a strong sermon. The meeting drew several new church members and many others pledged to improve their lives, with special praise for Rev Eversole’s efforts. Johnson departed for Wilmore Monday.
