Thomas D Clarkson, a long time Washington county farmer and stock raiser, died aged 62 after declining health from Brights disease. He was a devout Catholic and brother to Wm J Clarkson Lloyd Clarkson and Mrs. Ben Haydon. Funeral at the Catholic church tomorrow with burial in St Domnic's cemetery.

Barrel of Beer Sparks Litigation in Marion Court

The Court of Appeals ruled that a county with a city of any class can order a countywide liquor vote on the same day as a separate city vote if petitioned under Section 2554. About thirteen years after losing some hearing Mr. W. T. Payne of near Springfield noticed a strange restoration while plowing. He heard the plow scraping birds singing and crow calls clearly and then could readily hear human voices in conversation, confirming a surprising recovery.

Herschel W. Smith died at his Louisville home on Friday May 10 from an abscess of the brain. His decline followed a head injury from a five year old fall. He was 27, married to Ruby Lampton in October 1905. Burial was in Woodburn KY. He was a Presbyterian and beloved husband to Mrs. Smith and father to an infant daughter. The Sun and Springfield friends extend sympathy.
