At a called meeting the congregation accepted the building committee’s report. The church will cost about 13 000 dollars and be erected on the northeast corner of High and Main Streets. It will seat 500 to 550 in the main auditorium with a basement Sunday School area of one large room, ten classrooms, and a ladies parlor. Completion is aimed for 1909.
Mr. Jas C. McElroy buys half interest in Springfield Lumber Co. and, after invoicing, becomes active partner. The firm will be named Springfield Lumber and Hardware Company. Also recaps a late season ball game where Springfield second team edged Poortown in 10 innings after a 9th inning tie.
Nad Hardin alias McChord known as the king bee of all the coons ran amuck Saturday night and Sunday morning in Hocker town after allegedly drinking fighting booze. The Chief of Police and Mr Grace intervened as Nad departed before arrest. Nad remains at large and others hope he is not captured. The ad promotes Ease Love American Gentleman shoes by PJ. THOMAS.
From Wednesday May 19 to Saturday May 29 Leachman and Campbell display Sanitaire beds. The invitation welcomes friends and the public to call during the event. Ladies receive a coupon for a chance to win a handsome bed. Advertised as the most elaborate bed display in Springfield and surroundings.
Mrs Minnie M Nesbitt widow of Robert T Nesbitt and sister of former Governor J Proctor Knott died at her home in Lebanon Kentucky after weeks of ill health She was eighty one and survived by two sons James Nesbitt of Jackson Mississippi and R L Nesbitt of Lebanon The funeral will be at the Second Presbyterian church on Sunday.
Mrs. Sarah Russell of near Stewart visited her son E R Rossell last weekend. Robert Hatchet of near Sims joined Mr. G H Christerson for a visit. Sam Mayes and children spent Sunday with Henry Graves. George Barker and family and Jo Ann Barker visited the Shewmaker home. Martha Shewmaker and O B Shewmaker hosted guests. O B Shewmaker shows slow recovery. Christerson and Harrionburg trip noted.
Judge Noe presided as Parel Calhoun faced trial for insulting language toward Anna Ray to provoke a fight with Henrietta. Witnesses testified Henrietta’s son struck Anna’s son with a rock, and Henrietta’s harsh words led to a strong City Attorney backed traverse, with potential spanking proposed. Hal Edelen faced stock law charges. after vigorous prosecution, he was acquitted.

Mr. Millard Ball was in Springfield on business last week. Attendees from here joined Howe's Great London Show at Lebanon on Thursday. Dr. J. S. Wright, recently confined to his room, shows improvement. Mr. Tom Miller of Che Dee stayed with sister-in-law Mary Miller the past week. Miss Mary Edelen and baby from Springfield visited her brother W. Edelen, who is sick, Saturday. Mrs. Annie Wright remains on the sick list.
