Infant Gift Attempt Shocks Springfield Crowd
A man and wife, Louis Cooley and his wife, passed through Springfield on Monday trying to persuade people to accept their two month old baby as a gift. They reportedly sought someone to kill the infant and tossed the child over their shoulder as they walked toward Mackville pike. A colored couple, James Mitchell's wife, was said to be willing to raise the child. The couple, described as half witted, were said to be inmates of the Poor house and were not considered responsible for their actions.

Died In Louisville Sister Of Local Resident
Mrs Ellen Fowler widow of Sam Fowler died in Louisville Friday night at age seventy nine after a long illness. Born and raised here she had lived in Louisville about fifteen years. A Catholic, her funeral was held at St Louis Cemetery in Louisville Monday at nine in the morning. Mrs John Thompson of near town is a daughter and shares in the condolences of many friends.

Frightened to Death in Fontainebleau
In Fontainebleau near Elizabethtown a two year-old, Virgil Carroll, son of Charles Carroll, died after a neighbor's horse startled him with a loud neigh.
