Milburn Farmer Dudley Milbh Dies by Self Inflicted Shot

Dudley Milbh a prominent farmer from Chapa near the Washington line died after shooting himself at dawn after a weeks illness. He told his son to fetch the pistol then planned the act and died an hour later despite medical attempts. He leaves a widow and several children, aged about sixty.

Fifth Annual Springfield High School Contest Delights Audience

The Fifth Annual Springfield Graded High School contest Friday night at the era House featured students Mabelucker, Alice Hadon, Mabel Williar, Evelyn Royalty, Thos Avin, Ollie Barber, Parker Medieval Walter Clements and others. The program included a strong musical section directed by Lizzie Watyers with solos, duets, and quartets. Judges Mr. C. M. Chord, Walter Hume, and Will Waters awarded Miss alty for recitation The Raven and Walter Clements for the Bulogy on Grady.

New Officers Elected for Washingtonity Fair Company

At a stockholders meeting Theo Campbell and other trustees were chosen to lead the Washingtonity Fair. The retiring officers praised for their work while new attractions are planned to make this year’s fair the best in county history.

Winning Honors at Danville Deaf and Dumb Institute

Master William E Dedman son of Mr and Mrs E P Dedman led his class in the recent examination at the Deaf and Dumb Institute in Danville. This marks a second time he has earned honors at the institution and his parents and friends are proud. Hon Campbell Cantrell will speak in Springfield next Saturday at 1:30 pm, with all invited to attend.

To marry this evening Mr Walter W McLaughlin and Miss Anna R Cox will wed at Miss Coxs parents home. Rev Williams of the Baptist church will perform the ceremony. Both couples are from Springfield and Washington County and will reside with Mrs Elizabeth McLaughlin in town.

Large tobacco crops sold by Washington county farmers

Over the past ten days several Washington county farmers sold large tobacco crops. Robi Hatchett netted 3793.71 dollars Luther Burns 2037.35 dollars and J R Durham 1933.80 dollars. Lloyd Haydon James Patterson also sold sizable crops with prices not learned. J R Claybrooke Jr sold his crop at 13 cents per pound.
