Mrs. George McNabb suffered extensive burns while rendering lard at Mr. S. C. McGill’s home near town. Her clothing caught fire from an open blaze and burned along her body, sparing only serious damage to the left side and arm as she endured intense pain. Miss Mattie McGill also received painful burns on both hands while attempting to extinguish the flames.
Series of meetings conducted by Pastor Rev Lyon and Dr J W Simpson of Taylorsville draws strong attendance and interest. Dr Simpson preaches strong sermons and several conversions have occurred. Meetings continue through the week.

C C McChord resigns after fifteen years on the State Railroad Commission and joins Gov Beckham as counsel in the railroad rate cases. He was defeated in his bid for re election with his term due to expire December 10. Newman expected to fill remainder of term. McChord to be paid 5000 dollars for services until rates are settled.

The Glasgow Times warns that the International Paper Company dominates print paper with fifty four mills and plans to absorb remaining mills in Wisconsin Minnesota and Michigan within a year. Blank paper costs have surged from 1.45 to 8.45 per hundred, forcing small country weeklies to raise prices or close. The paper calls for repeal of wood pulp tariffs to ease costs and urges editors to lobby congress.
Edwards Pinkston wed Miss Effie Edwards daughter of Mr and Mrs John Edwards of Texas and Mr Purdom Pinkston son of Mr A C Pinkston of DeKalb Illinois Sunday afternoon at 3 oclock by Rev Walker of Mackville Methodist church. Friends extend congratulations and best wishes for many years of happy married life to Mr and Mrs Pinkston.

The Blinco community mourns Manny Corbett who died suddenly after months of inflammatory rheumatism. He leaves a wife and five children. Funeral services were at St. Rose with burial in the St. Rose Cemetery. A half brother, Victor Corbett, died two weeks earlier.
Mrs. Jane Thompson, longtime resident of Washington county and widow of John M. Thompson, died November 28 1907 at her nephew Robert Coulter’s home in Preston New Mexico. Age sixty three. Survived by sons Joe A. Thompson of Texas Thomas Thompson of Elmhurst California and daughter Mrs Silas Logsdon near town. The Sun and many friends extend condolences.
The Glen Lily Bowling Team of local, and Barkers Kittens of Leba Loc, met last night on the local alleys. In a two out of three contest the Lebanon team won the first game by about forty pins, while the Springfield team captured the next two by four and sixty three pins. A good crowd witnessed the close games and a high level of excitement followed.
The Saxton Glee Club with help from the Ladies Aid Society of the Presbyterian church will give a concert at the Court House on Friday night December 18. An interesting program has been arranged and the event is billed as one of the season’s highlights. Admission is 25 and 25 cents. Also note an unrelated ad: a 350 acre stock farm with a good cottage and outbuildings offered at 12.00 per acre by Kent C. Barber of Bardstown, Ky.
