After feeding with milk and slop the hog began eating and has since fattened, with shoulders and front body in good condition and the hog expected to be as fine a porker as before its disappearance.

Nelson County carried by wets by 654 to 285 three years after a local option vote. Bardstown showed an 854 majority for the wets with women and children canvassing at the polls and serving hot toffee and sandwiches. First Public Service In New Springfield Baptist Church
The first public service at the new Springfield Baptist church was held on December 19 1909 with pastor William H Williams delivering a sermon from Psalm 122 and Rev Thomas M Vaughan reading the name from the church’s organization twenty six years earlier. Evening service featured a Transfiguration sermon as the auditorium was filled and the crowd expressed satisfaction with the new building. The 9 30 Sunday School session opened with the crowd gathered and attentive.

The past week saw higher tobacco prices with Thursday Saturday and yesterday showing gains. At Farmers House auctioneer W J Fiaugher sold tobacco from Mayor Wm C Head’s farm at 20 cents per pound, while overall sales were strong for quality and bidding. Figures: Farmers House 12 20 4? 94,000 pounds at 12 cents. Washington County Warehouse 55,000 at 7 cents, 93,000 at 13 4 cents, 98,000 at 13 4 cents.

Fire at Sherwood Hotel Adjoining Building in New Haven
Fire destroyed the building adjoining the Sherwood Hotel in New Haven this morning. An explosion from a coal stove in the restaurant run by Tom Johnston caused the blaze. The property owned by Lizzie Ford housed the Wilkins and ColSher families, with estimated loss around 3000 dollars and only 600 dollars insurance.

Little Phil Thompson Dies in Washington City
Col Phil B Thompson of Haxtode burg former eighth Kentucky congressman died suddenly in Washington City last week after a stomach hemorrhage. A Civil War veteran he later practiced law in Harrodsburg and Washington, served three terms in Congress, and was famed as a fearless prosecutor. He is buried beside his father in Harrodsburg.

Cherokee Eds Four Dash Into Train Disaster
Last Saturday in St Mary the ponies drawing Cherokee Eds stage ran away near a freight train. Three ponies were killed and mangled, one escaped with minor injuries. the driver and two others escaped unharmed. The team, driven by an irregular driver, broke loose after striking a loose tree. The incident happened about three hundred yards from town and ended in a fatal wreck for the Animals.
