Destiny and The Dog by Edgar Welton Cooley

Feathered chaos erupts when a bed and mattress topple the deacon, revealing his humiliation and culminating in a butchered yet humorous confrontation about marriage and propriety.

Peculiar Indian Marriage Rites Across Hopi Navajo Tribes
A. W. Dimeck describes Hopi and Navajo marriage customs in Outing Magazine. The Topi Pueblo ritual involves parental arrangement, a three week grinding of corm by the bride, and a sunrise cold bath for the couple. Navajo weddings are more elaborate with horses as a matrilineal tribute, while a taboo exists that prevents the husband and mother in law from meeting after the ceremony.
