Will Distribute Money Soon for Pooled Tobacco
Prof J D Clark secretary of Fayette county Society of Equity says checks will be mailed in a few days to divide funds from pooled tobacco sales among growers. He explained reserves and pro rata payouts, denying any motive to skim ten percent. Mercer County figures two hundred hogsheads sold, about twenty thousand dollars to be distributed, with the reserve funds intended for growers’ relief.

On Harrison street Monday night a group described as colored performed comic opera stunts called cer nadin prompting an arrest by Officer Hagan after neighbors misheard the sounds. Tuesday saw Henry Brussells tried for selling whiskey in local option territory. a jury was demanded by his attorney and later hung after conflicting testimony. Harvey McElroy, another colored man from Bradfordsville, faced a whiskey selling charge. he declined to testify leading to the court imposing the lowest fine, $60, with the case noted as ongoing unresolved.
