A Springfield Baptist church missionary meeting led by Rev Stuart yielded just over 300 dollars for the foreign field. The Fifth Sunday Meeting of the Central Association met at Springfield Baptist Church on Friday night with Rev. W. D. Spinks lecturing on My Experience as a Missionary in Africa and Darkest Africa. Devotional services were led by Rev. J. C. Quarles on My Call to the Foreign Field.

In a four to two vote the fiscal court elected J. R. Mayes as county road supervisor over Robt. Montgomery after four ballots. Mayes, currently a guard at the state penitentiary, will return to duties once the election is certified.
Mrs. Matt Mayes went to Willmore Kentucky last week due to the serious illness of her father Mr T T Leavell who died last Saturday night. In December he was struck with paralysis and this caused his death. The deceased was well known in Mackville and was a respected member of the Christian church.
Mr Igi of Willisburg was seriously hurt last Saturday when a buggy driven by a young horse ran away. He was dragged a distance, suffered facial and body cuts and bruises, and for a time feared internal injuries. He is improving and expected to recover.
Willie Marks an 18 year old Bardstown native was fatally injured by a train in Birmingham Alabama on a Tuesday afternoon He died hours after at St Vincent s Hospital He recently left Bardstown to work as a witchman with the L and N Railroad Co in Birmingham and was reportedly performing his duties at the time of the accident Survived by his mother a sister and two brothers the community shares in their sorrow
County Organizer Wm. Nally will organize an A. S. of E. Local at Cardwell Saturday afternoon at 2 oclock and one at Willisburg Saturday night. All people interested in the movement are eminently requested to be present.
Clarence Lebus president of the Burley District Tobacco Association told a crowd outside the court house in Frankfort that he would bet $1000 that tobacco growers will defeat a trust seeking to control Kentucky crops. He also offered $10 to anyone who could find a taker. He warned that unless the trust purchases the 1906 and 1907 pooled crops, no barley would be planted in 1908. He claimed over 90 percent of the new crop is already pooled and predicted trust success in time.
Robert Mayés, once at Graded School, is excelling at the State College of Kentucky. He has maintained strong class standing and upholds the school's reputation in the Bluegrass metropolis. Spring fever hits students, with multiple illnesses and head pains reported as the term remains dry. Prof. Colvin traveled to Louisville to visit Nethersole at Macauley’s, returning that night.
Gladys and Colby Tucker, children of Mr and Mrs Wash Tucker, fell violently ill last Saturday with suspected poisoning. Only sausage stored in lard and sacks was eaten. other family members ate the meat and remained unaffected. The children are now entirely well.
Mrs. Mary Grigsby of Maple Hill learned Tuesday via telegram that her brother Don Monarch and his wife were killed in a Kansas City railroad wreck. Both were well known locally and had frequently visited the county. Details of the wreck are not yet available.
Clifton Taylor suffers pneumonia and James Moran Jr. is ill with typhoid fever in Valley Hill. Bert Flaugher of Bloomfield and Katherine Settle of Maud wed in Louisville and will run a Maud grist mill. Exposition visits, church plans, and assorted local doings fill this Mooresville bulletin. A buggy mishap injures James Montgomery. measles reported near Midway. and several residents travel to Springfield Louisville Bardstown and Woodlawn for events.
Mr Jim Turner of Mackville visited Saturday and Sunday. W C Rowe and W T Phillipps were in Springfield Monday. Dee Shewmaker of Hillsboro visited his brother Jim Murphy last week. Willie Logue and family at Jenkinsville last Wednesday. Jim Murphy has recovered from illness. Phillipps and Rowe entertained a crowd at W V Terrell’s Mackville home last Wednesday with a graphophone. J W Perkins and son of Willingburg visited his later at W C Rowe’s home. Rowe and wife were in Mackville Saturday.
Hon W C McChord addressed tobacco growers in Taylorsville praising his work for Kentucky barley tobacco and Burley groups. He devised by laws and bookkeeping systems, urged organization in Spencer county, and supported the cause during hard times, earning acclaim as a tireless, strategic advocate.
