The Confederate Dead public meeting and relief effort
A public meeting at the Court House formed a permanent association to inter Confederate dead near Springfield Missouri. Leaders include Capt. Gen. M. Jones as president and W. J. Haydon reporting, with a large financial committee of many local ladies and gentlemen. Subscriptions raised 304, a festival planned, and newspapers statewide asked to publish the proceedings.
