Death of Colonel James McCown After Texas Trip
Colonel James McCown of the 5th Confederate Infantry died after returning from Texas on business. His death was unexpected and mourned by many friends. Funeral held at Smyrna church with large attendance and Masonic burial rites performed by Warrensburg and Holden Masons.
