Ring of bidders swindled Missouri rail sale exposed
A legislative inquiry reveals that multiple bidders including McKay Reed Simmons Vogel and others formed a ring to overvalue and secure the Cairo and Fulton and Iron Mountain railroads. Evidence shows bid inflation, suspected favoritism by Governor, use of Missouri bonds and “slush” funds, and aims to profit through coordinated purchases and deeds. The report questions legality and calls for full printing and scrutiny by the Attorney General.
