Tyndall School heads toward new enrollment peak

School begins August 27 with about 160 attending and more expected. Staff includes Miss Blaker for grades 1 2. Miss Gward grades 3 4 5. Miss Kristianson grades 6 7 8. Pp Prychon and J O Becksted in high school 9 12. War reduced staff to five. board wary of overcrowding as enrollment recovers.

Sabat joins RCAF for electrician training in Portage la Prairie

Zenon Sabat, currently in Tyndall, will soon depart for Portage la Prairie for six weeks of intensive drill and PT training. William Kisiow spends holidays with his parents and plans to return about September 23 to run his trading post in the North for the winter season.

Great Falls community notes and school updates

Mrs. Sam Baker of Long Lake arrives in Great Falls with Curtis to start Grade VI at the Great Falls School and stays with Wm. Fraser until December. Proceeds from the August 31 dance at Anderson Hall totalled 28.36 and were hosted by Iris Fraser, Kenneth Texmo, and B. J. Thorbergson. New teachers are Mr. Harland and Mr. Roeker. Football and rink work begin as the town greets the new school year. Guests include Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Whitton of Wynyard and Iris Fraser who visited Winnipeg and Warren Sinnock’s home, with Pudafin accompanying them.

Prairie Wheat Crop Best Since 1942

Prairie wheat production in the three prairie provinces is forecast at about 440.4 million bushels with an average yield near 17.4 bushels per acre from roughly 25.27 million acres. The estimate exceeds the prairie ten year average of 347 million but trails 1942 output of 528 million. Manitoba Pool elevators project 60 million bushels from 2.93 million acres at about 21.2 bushels per acre versus 40 million last year.
