Labor Day Event in Pine Falls Draws Big Crowd

Labor Day activities in Pine Falls drew large crowds despite morning showers. The Pine Falls town team won the local baseball tourney while booths sold many hot dogs and drinks. Prize drawings yielded several unclaimed and claimed items. The event featured a tug of war, a dance with Fred Dufilly orchestra, door prizes, and strong committee effort praised by residents.

Lac du Bonnet hospital aid bid rejected by Winnipeg utilities

Winnipeg utilities committee rejected Lac du Bonnet's request for financial help to build and operate a rural hospital. The proposal suggested funding through the hydro system at Pointe du Bois, but distance and available Winnipeg services led to a denial. A future cottage hospital at Pointe du Bois would be considered if needed. The next meeting was set for September 15 at Pointe du Bois.
