Legion Builds Toward Memorial Hall in Lac du Bonnet

At the Lac du Bonnet Legion meeting auditors were named to verify the Building Fund with the aim of transferring funds to the Memorial Centre General Fund. Other districts of the Big Four work on similar tasks, weather and materials permitting an immediate hall upgrade and erection of the Legion’s new home. The next monthly meeting is November 13 to elect officers for the coming year.

Honour Roll Unveiling At Education Week Ceremony

The Home and School Association in Lac du Bonnet plans an Education Week ceremony featuring the unveiling of the Roll of Honor for students who sacrificed in the past war. Exact date and time to be announced as arrangements finalize. Also notes Johnny Neun’s feats with the Cincinnati Reds.

World Series Game Ends in Tie as Protest Runs High

In the 1922 World Series second game a 3-3 ten inning tie drew heavy fan protests. Commissioner Landis ordered all gate proceeds to charity after the game.

Two Weekend Highway Crashes Hurt Drivers and Damaged Vehicles

Mike Huska of Pine Falls suffered a broken arm and possible skull fracture after a side swiping collision with Mike Schewetz of Great Falls. The Huska truck cab was torn from the frame, while occupants Roland Boulet and Lucien Bruneau escaped injury. Gerard Bergeron and Raoul Vincent avoided serious harm when their car rolled wheel-side into a coulee after stalling on Tin Town Hill. Bergeron was fined $3 for driving without a license.

Deadeye and Never Miss Travel Far for Two Ducks

Fortunate locals hold off holiday fever to pursue ducks with musket in hand. Bill Jackson reports strong shooting near Brandon while Dauphin trip with Desilets and Towler underperformed. George Lalor and Earl Mansfield, nicknamed Deadeye and Nevermiss, led a six hundred mile misadventure ending with two ducks.

For weeks Beausejour locals Oscar Russell Ivan Ridley and Roy Orr lead a big hunt with Dowler as witness. They head to the marsh country with ammunition but the plan yields twelve ducks or nothing in the first day, a disappointment despite expert marksmen.
