Manitoban volunteers promote a Grenadiers fundraising effort to welcome returning Hong Kong troops. A twenty five cent button bearing Welcome Home Grenadiers will fund attire for the Grenadier headquarters at 194 Main Street and a living memorial club for former members and their buddies. Transcona Man Named Coalition Candidate For Springfield

Transcona man Murdoch Mac ay was chosen by a coalition nominating convention at Oak September 24 to contest in Springfield. Nominee E. F. non, former MLA, led with M J Hoban of Begusejour and William Lucke of Hazel Glen as other candidates. Delegates numbered 126 with Liberal and Conservative representation. Chairman Henry Steiner of White Mouth presided. Premier Stuart-Garson, guest, spoke on finance and future plans.

The Winnipeg River District fuels Manitoba hydro power, keeping electricity rates among the lowest in North America. Since 1906 the project spurred urban and rural development, expanding to 157 communities and exporting power south to the United States. Electric service lifted farm and industrial reach, prompting a 1942 electrification study that found enough power to electrify tens of thousands of farms within Manitoba.
