Public tender call for 220 buffalo meat at Elk Island Park
Public tenders are invited for dressed meat from about 220 buffalo at Elk Island National Park. Park Superintendent Don Macmillan says about 110000 pounds will be prepared at the park abattoir and delivered to the winning bidder. Hides go to Indian Affairs, skulls to the University of Calgary, and eight trophy heads to the RCMP. Tender closes November 25.

The Traverse Bay Local in Manitoba raised funds to build a Community Hall and announced the prize winners. Mrs. M. Turcotte of Powerview won a Western Long Horn Wall Ornament, Napoleon Laforte of Traverse Bay won a set of TV trays, and Tom Allison of Pine Falls won 26 oz of perfume.

Holloween Party and Cub Meetings in Lac du Bonnet
Scouts of Lac du Bonnet Cubs held a Halloween Party on Monday October 25 with a good turnout. A regular meeting on November 1, 1971 was well attended despite heavy snowfall. Ricky Simpson was invested into the Cub Pack by Akela. A few badges were earned and will be awarded at the next regular meeting.

LAC DU BONNET Arena Women's Auxiliary Dissolves
A meeting on November 3 with three attendees showed no kitchen volunteer interest for the season, prompting dissolution. Originating as Hockey Mothers in March 1967, the group built and equipped a kitchen and freezer, donated to the arena waiting room, and later funded part of the arena complex. A final public meeting is set for November 16 at 2:00 p.m. in the Arena.

Lac du Bonnet Senior School Yearbook Features and Activities
In Lac du Bonnet on October 28 the Yearbook Committee led a workshop to promote yearbook sales. Kathy Picard Karen Bruchanski and Louise Bruneau hosted. They discussed cost differences and cheaper lower grade paper options. A curling sign‑up list circulated with a $4 to $6 fee. Garth Hodge can assist signups. The choir totals 26 girls led by Mrs Heidrick and Mrs Plato who praise the choir spirit. The school continues its house system with four houses including House of the Spirits Farkle Fun House House of the Rising Sun and Pandra’s Box.

Beausejour Squadron Wins Captain Kenneth Young Trophy
No 249 Beausejour Squadron awarded the Captain Kenneth Young Memorial Trophy as the most proficient rural squadron in Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. It enrolls 76 cadets from Beausejour and neighboring communities. Three members qualified as pilots last summer. Twenty seven cadets attended training camps across Manitoba Alberta Ontario and Quebec.
