Pine Falls Bowling Windup Celebrates 25th Anniversary

The Pine Falls 5 Pin Bowling League held its wind up and dance to honor the 25th anniversary of the club for 1964 65 bowlers. Prize winners include Hayes Trophy Johannson Trophy and Tremblay Trophy. Teams feature Pete Richardson Pat Richardson Dolly McMullen Dolores Cyr Ed McMullen and others. High averages reached 220 by Margaret Ford and 225 by Tom Allison. Doris Kahle received 10 for bowling over 400.

Great Falls Community Church Tea Draws Large Turnout

The Great Falls Community Church hosted a Friday May 14 tea and bale sale at the Community Center drawing guests from Pine Falls Powerview Seven Sisters and Lac du Bonnet. Tea was served at decorated tables with baked goods and sandwiches. proceeds totalled 235 dollars.

Lac du Bonnet Curling Club Awards At Wind Up Banquet

The Lac du Bonnet Curlins Club crowned champions at a May 15 wind up banquet in Memorial Hall. Joe Nesper’s foursome won the Club Championship and received the Dubienski Trophy from Magistrate Ian Dubienski. Other trophies went to Shelley Peterson’s team Casey Inn Trophy, Georgina Kirby’s team Freund Trophy, and the Mugwump prize awarded to Mrs. Leah Zeemer and rink. A turkey raffle and dancing closed the evening, with guests from Pinawa, Pointe du Bois and Seven Sisters attending. The Pine Falls Elementary Spring Concert on April 30 featured a Fairyland theme with student performances from kindergarten through Grade 5 led by Helen Halpin as MC.

Couple Witnesses Store Theft at Lac du Bonnet Liquor

A young couple saw thieves break into the Lac du Bonnet Liquor Control Store and steal 23 cases of spirits before 3 a.m. The front door was forced, the loot was loaded into cars, and witnesses noted the thieves appeared to move slowly. Local Constable Art Edmondson said information would be released once key leads are followed.

Pine Falls Hosts Provincial WPW Club Installation

Four new members Judith Little G Beaulieu G Woods and Janice Salt were installed at a one day Provincial workshop of Business and Professional Women's Clubs in Pine Falls Manitoba on May 2. The event drew 127 members from across Manitoba with ten clubs represented including Dauphin. Manitoba leaders and guests spoke on leadership equality and employment conditions.

NORAD SAC Joint Training Exercise Over Canada and U S

NORAD and Strategic Air Command will conduct a joint training flight over central Canada and 26 central U S states on Friday May 21 involving SAC bombers and NORAD interceptors. No nuclear weapons or missiles will be used and air traffic will not be suspended. The exercise will last under an hour over any area.

Members Hold Achievement Night at Great Falls 4-H Club

Great Falls four H members gathered May 10 at the Recreation Center for Achievement Day with Home Economists Mrs Goulden and Miss McCallum and 25 members in attendance along with leaders Mrs Warren Mrs Morgan and Mrs Mendella. Seventeen ribbons were earned across exhibits and models while demonstrations highlighted Critics Choice and Figure Flattery.

Lac du Bonnet Prom Night Delayed Band Lifts Spirits

Lac du Bonnet Collegiate held its Spring Prom in the school auditorium on May 14 with Winnipeg teen group The Strollers providing music. The band arrived an hour and a half late but regained momentum as decorations of spring colors and green blue lights created a dubbed otherworldly mood. A buffet lunch followed the half way break, though some attendees had forgotten items.

Beausejour Appoints Assistant Agricultural Representative

Jerry Gramiuk, a 1965 University of Saskatchewan agriculture graduate, has been appointed assistant agricultural representative for Beausejour. He joined Bill Lambert on May 1 to help with general extension program work and oversee Area 4-H club activities. Gramiuk majored in agricultural economics and held high academic standing. He previously worked as a student assistant in agricultural economics and with the Saskatchewan Department of Highways.
