Lac du Bonnet Curling Club Awards At Wind Up Banquet
The Lac du Bonnet Curlins Club crowned champions at a May 15 wind up banquet in Memorial Hall. Joe Nesper’s foursome won the Club Championship and received the Dubienski Trophy from Magistrate Ian Dubienski. Other trophies went to Shelley Peterson’s team Casey Inn Trophy, Georgina Kirby’s team Freund Trophy, and the Mugwump prize awarded to Mrs. Leah Zeemer and rink. A turkey raffle and dancing closed the evening, with guests from Pinawa, Pointe du Bois and Seven Sisters attending. The Pine Falls Elementary Spring Concert on April 30 featured a Fairyland theme with student performances from kindergarten through Grade 5 led by Helen Halpin as MC.

A young couple saw thieves break into the Lac du Bonnet Liquor Control Store and steal 23 cases of spirits before 3 a.m. The front door was forced, the loot was loaded into cars, and witnesses noted the thieves appeared to move slowly. Local Constable Art Edmondson said information would be released once key leads are followed.

Lac du Bonnet Collegiate held its Spring Prom in the school auditorium on May 14 with Winnipeg teen group The Strollers providing music. The band arrived an hour and a half late but regained momentum as decorations of spring colors and green blue lights created a dubbed otherworldly mood. A buffet lunch followed the half way break, though some attendees had forgotten items.
