Lac du Bonnet Royal Canadian Legion Branch 164 earned an award for increased membership for the second year at a Tuesday April 27 meeting. The ladies auxiliary donated 500 dollars toward the new Legion building fund. Reports covered hockey team successes, Northeastern district scout rally at Milner Ridge, and scout activities reorganization. Three new members were approved and four initiated, with Ed Sharkey receiving the past president badge. District 6 rally notes, curling playdowns set for East St. Paul, and Fort William zone support for the June 6-9 convention were discussed.

Three Cubs Honored at Lac du Bonnet Banquet
Raymond Paquin Ralph Brincheski and David Paquin were honored at a Father and Son Banquet of the First Lac du Bonnet Cub Pack. Russell Waters presented a wallet containing 3000 ee to Mr. Wauhkonen and the boys returned it to the local constable. Guest speaker Dennis Fitzsimmons said the boys will receive a letter of commendation from the Chief Commissioner of Manitoba. W C M Anderson outlined the district’s scouting coordination. A fathers toast led by Doug Prest drew a reply from Bert Wood urging greater paternal involvement. Scout Tom Charles thanked all attendees.

Car Rolls Kill Winnipeg Driver
A 61 year old Winnipeg man Stanley Chapley of 631 Selkirk Ave died Saturday when the car he was driving rolled on the Pointe du Bois road two and a half miles east of Lac du Bonnet about 7 p m He was alone in the vehicle and no other cars were involved.

Pinawa Boat Club elects officers for the second annual meeting
At Pinawa School on April 26 1965 fifty two boat owners gathered for the Second Annual Boat Club meeting. Bruce Stewart is elected Commodore with Peter Kingston as Harbour Master Zacharias as secretary and D Booth as treasurer. Committee members include Gilmore Litvinsky Biggs and Wood. Dock facilities at present fit forty four boats with plans to add thirty slips at a rear cove and eventually provide permanent facilities for up to 300 boats with ramps. A Winnipeg River area map was shown and two films were screened Fishing The Winnipeg River by Sawatzky and Boating on The Ottawa River by Kingston.

Young Artist Miss Wilma Warren Shines At Winnipeg Exhibit
Miss Wilma Warren eighteen daughter of Mr and Mrs W Warren of Powerview near Great Falls displayed sixteen original paintings at the Art Exhibition and Sale held in the Mall Polo Park Winnipeg last Thursday to Saturday. Nine works sold and her wildlife pieces complemented her known landscapes. The event sponsored by the Women’s Auxiliary of the Winnipeg Art Gallery showcased both fledgling and established artists with thousands viewing over 3000 works in the division.
