St John’s College planned on University of Manitoba campus

An artist’s conception shows the new St John’s College to be erected on the University of Manitoba campus with a campaign underway to raise about 1 025 000 for construction. The central lecture building anchors the quad with residential houses forming two sides and a dining hall behind it. The warden’s residence attaches to the main building, the chapel sits to the left, and the chapel will be the first available to all university students.

Grants For Lac du Bonnet Rural Municipality Meeting

A Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet council met April 25 with Cameron from the Department of Public Works and a district engineer discussing road grants. They outlined 60 percent grants for Main Market Roads and 50 percent for approved drainage works up to a $10,500 maximum, and passed a resolution requesting changes to the Market Road System including several sections and deletions. Consideration of 1956 grant works was postponed to a regular May 1, 1956 meeting.

Lac du Bonnet MFU Elects Officers

The Lac du Bonnet Manitoba Farmers' Union met in the Municipal Hall on Thursday April 26 for its fifth annual meeting. Walter Zarecki was elected president, with John Dubhinski declining a fourth term but elected as vice president. Board nominees included August KuliRowski organization, Paul Sikora legislation, Rupert Ronis education, Mrs E Lavoie recreation, Mrs L Chevrefils secretary treasurer Arnold Sarapu. Auditors for 1956 7 to be elected later.

A farewell party at Municipal Hall on Tuesday April 24 honored Tom Law who served as station agent here for eight years. Friends from Beausejour River Hills Seven Sisters and Masonic Brethren attended. Edward Makoske presented a retirement gift as Law departs after 44 years with the CPR and will relocate to Toronto. Speakers included Oscar Russell Howard Leith and Mrs. Frank Kellner sang several solos.

Great Falls Bill Sutherland Injury Update

Sutherland suffered a chest injury after a fall at the plant but is up and around and hopes to return to work soon. The Great Falls Gurling Club hosts its Annual Buan meeting and dance on May 11 at Anderson Hall. Mrs Saele visits Winnipeg. Mr Saele's sister visits. Mrs Clara Bracken entertained the Ladies Squirrel Club with canasta and lunch.

Molinski Connor Wedding at White Mouth Church

Barbara Connor wed Lorne Molinski in a double ring ceremony at White Mouth Anglican Church on April 21. The bride wore white nylon tulle and satin, with a pearl trimmed headdress, carrying red roses. her sister Violet was maid of honor.
