At a Lac du Bonnet Home and School Association meeting last Monday the group donated a folding couch and pillow to the school. Mrs. Albert Arsenault added an army blanket. The couch will be used if a student falls ill during school hours. A silver tea and a radio play by high school students are planned for Monday, April 12. Rev. E. Bissell presided. minutes were by Mrs. Zeemel. Members present included Mrs. Uhlman, Mrs. Arsenault, Mrs. Sneath, Mrs. MacMahon, Mrs. W. Peterson, Mrs. F. Brown, Mrs. Bissell, and Mr. Bonneau.
Mrs C McLennan faced a near tragedy when her son Gordon choked on bread crust. She tried standard methods and then reached down his throat to remove the object. Gordon survived, though Mrs McLennan injured her hand in the effort.
A blaze on Wednesday March 17 around 1 30 p m destroyed the recently completed Lake View garage owned by Mike Danylchuk. Despite nearby Forest Service help the fire could not be controlled no nearby buildings were endangered and neighbors saved most equipment though stock and personal effects were lost. The oil burning stove explosion is the suspected cause. The Danylchuks found temporary lodging at W A Craney’s summer home.
A birthday party was held at Turner's farm in Beausesjour in honor of Mrs. C. E. Turner on March 17. A glass top mahogany coffee table was presented to the guest of honor. Attendees included G. V. Hoban, B. Crampton, H Bush, B. Larson, F. Rumak, S. Rumak, and many others.
