Victoria Rosemont Oxford Ora, a two year old Jersey cow coowned by E W Burkinshaw, earned a silver medal certificate. She is the granddaughter of Tormentor's Brown Marie and produced 9 952 pounds of milk and 632 pounds of fat in 304 days with an average test of 4 34 percent.
The Farmers' Institute in Cranbrook British Columbia offers to lend 50 to any boy or girl who buys a calf and raises it for beef-cattle sales across the province. The program aims to form a boys and girls calf club and promote youth involvement in agriculture.
At Beausejour on March 2, four teams Tyndall Gonor East Selkirk and Beausejour competed for 30 prize dollars. Tyndall and Beausejour split after overtime while Beausejour beat Gonor 6 2 and Tyndall beat East Selkirk 4 2. The final tied 2 2 after ten minutes overtime before a crowd that filled the venue. Dr J Brook treated several injuries including a broken collar bone and knee dislocation amid busy drugstores for tape and supplies.
Reginald Glendening of the Dominion agricultural department told University of British Columbia growers that Meta bait attracts slugs because it has an alcoholic effect. He said slugs become intoxicated and die on the spot, and they do not resist the bait’s attraction.

Beausejour Polish Fraternal Society hosted its annual Pre Lenten banquet last Saturday with a fine turnout of over fifty couples. Music featured Stan and Wanda Pirozek on accordion and guitar and Cass Bialek on violin. S. Badran and J. Kaczoski reported strong attendance and enjoyable dancing. Mr and Mrs J Reckseiller hosted a pre Lenten supper and dance at their home, with numerous guests listed including H Ott W Klingbeil H Fenning R Stebbe J Keilback A Ratti E Klapprat I Kaatz H Litke R Millbrandt Violet Splett Myrtle Splett and Dee Weldon of Winnipeg.
Ferdinand Gerstler died February 27 at his home in Glenmore at age 61. Funeral held March 4, burial at Broken Head Lutheran Church Churchyard with Rev. Hartmann officiating. Born in Russia he came to Canada thirty years ago settling in Steinbach district later moved to Chicago Illinois and returned seven months ago to Brokenhead district to retire. Survived by his widow.
