Seven Spring field district soldiers arrived in Halifax aboard the Ne de France on Sunday. Privates Szalanski Garson Rick er Kamke Karpetz Beaubien, W. Kamke Libau Lady wood St. George Pine Falls and Sgt. Canada plus Gunner French Pine Falls are expected home by midweek.
Mike Galek sixty five years old who homesteaded at Seddons Corner for seventeen years was found dead on his farm by neighbours. The body was taken to Beausjour for post mortem examination. Time of death estimated around February 26. Verdict: frozen to death due to malnutrition. Body lay in the shack for three weeks and was chewed by weasels and mice.
Lockport pioneer Andrew Rewacki, farming there since 1899, bought C H Bethel’s implement and repair business. His two sons Joe and John join, pledging to maintain Bethel’s high service standard. Bethel keeps the oil agency for health reasons prompting the sale.
Beausejour March 12 court session before Magistrate L S Matlin saw Stanley Donanski of Garson and Anton Pfeifer of Beausejour arraigned over a car sale. Donanski was fined 100 plus costs with two months jail option. Pfeifer fined 35 plus two weeks in jail for paying above the ceiling. Pfeifer chose to pay the fine.
Clara Vincent daughter of Mr and Mrs R Vincent married Robert Lavallee son of Mr and Mrs Louis Lavallee at St Teresa Catholic Church Pine Falls. Rev De Ruychper officiated. Bride wore spice brown wool suit and matching hat with veil and Talisman rose corsage. Seventy guests attended the bridal dinner at Lavallees home before a 5 pm Winnipeg honeymoon.
Beausejour Friday Amateur Night drew a full Town Hall with patrons praising Norman Negedly for a Drummond poem performance seen as a riot. Proceeds exceeded 100 dollars with prizes for singing, tap dancing, accordion and vocals based on applause.

On Saturday February 23 in the vestry of St Theresa s Catholic Church the bride wore nile green wool with a portrait hat and a veil. Her corsage featured Yellow Talisman roses. After the ceremony a reception at the bride s parents home welcomed 70 guests who offered felicitations and joined the dance afterward.

In a Seven Sisters Falls playoff for the Winnipeg Electric Company trophy the Anderson Cup, Seven Sisters won both games on their rink beating Pinawa 2 to 1. Other notes mention visitors to Winnipeg and local moves including Mrs N Swagger, W P Walsh, R Moen and nephew, R Pearson, A Bradley and A Krampetz, plus a surprise birthday party for Mrs H Leith with gifts and cake.
North of Churchill on March 1 a force faced a 40 mile an hour blizzard that halted camp. While sheltering in enclosed vehicles several men suffered carbon monoxide poisoning but reached Baker Lake in good health and high spirits.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion B E S L in Tyndall met March 1 with strong attendance. Officers include President Mrs A J McLeod and VP Mrs Geo Hill. A whist drive for March 27 was decided. A $25 Red Cross donation was sent. Several social updates and bereavement sympathy were noted. A Silver Tea at the Tyndall Hotel on March 14 aided the United Church.
The Re-establishment Credit Division disbursed $364.34 to an Edmonton veteran and his wife for furniture. The purchases included 87 items with the largest single item a dresser costing $39.50.
