The Glenmoor ratepayers held a meeting and passed a money by law to fund a new school addition. J T Obertan chaired with Paul Hlady as secretary. The building will include indoor toilets and upgraded heating. Two classrooms will open in the fall for Grades 1-6 in the old room and 7-11 in the new room.
The Manitoba Federation of Luther Leagues held its Spring Rally at St. Paul Lutheran Church River Hills drawing 96 registered youths for fellowship talks discussions and plans for the District Convention at Echo Lake Saskatchewan. Rev W T Weind Winnipeg challenged attendees to live by the rally theme All For God as officers were installed and a Stewardship film shown.
Regular Powerview Council meeting held on Tuesday in June discusses main street page updates. Clerk notes agenda items and local issues with planning and public notices.
Whitemouth Baptist Church in River Hills marked its 50th anniversary on June 3 with morning services, a history read by Walter Kretchmer, and remarks by Rev R Zinser of Winnipeg. Fashion Parade Rally Day in Beauvoir on July 16 features Junior TMsion, Maria Galas, Senior Evelyn Lanowayo, Margaret Peitch, and Lorraine Wilcosh.
Greenmoor wins the Shield after a daylong event at Gull Lake Sports Ground on June 7 with six schools Thalberg North Stead Gull Lake Thalberg South Greenwald and Clenmoor. Teams competed in softball and baseball with Greenmoor defeating Stead 25 to 0 in the final for the Baseball Trophy. Individual Girls Cup goes to Clorna Fedoruik of Thalberg North and the Bus Cup to Eddie Krawenuk of Stead.

Lac du Bonnet municipal council met June 5 with full attendance to discuss drains and public works expenditures. Delegations included Ed Sikora seeking 3 miles of drain at about $6000 to flow into Wardrop's Creek and requests for damming water at private ditch intersections. Katherine Gurniak of Windsor Ontario died aged after a May 26 service at St Vladimir Greek Orthodox Church officiated by Rev Kernisky. Interment followed at Victoria Memorial Cemetery. Born in Poland she came to Canada in 1995 and later resided in Windsor. Survived by husband Peter and several children including Mike of Dearborn Michigan Sam Joseph and others.
Brookfield School captured the Sovereign Life Assurance Co. Trophy at the Lac du Bonnet District Field Day on June 7. Schools Milner Ridge Newcombe Lac du Bonnet Brightstone and Landerville competed. results featured a parade led by majorettes and wins in parade, softball and relay events.
