The Whitemouth Melody Mixers Home Economic Club held Achievement Day on May 25 with red ribbons for members and selections for further competition. Darlene Steiner and Michael Klymenko were selected for the Centennial Student Exchange program. Darlene will go to Cornerbrooke Newfoundland and Mike to Nova Scotia. Chris Barry was chosen to represent Whitemouth Collegiate at a United Nations Seminar in Brandon in July. He is sponsored by the Agassiz School Board half the costs, Mrs. W. Bilynsky who donated 10 dollars, and Whitemouth and District Home and School which contributed 12.50. Randy Melnick was selected for Gimli Training Camp to take a leadership course, sponsored by the Student Body Council. Allan Besel, who went to Gimli last year, will continue training and pay his own fees. Tim Rohrig received the Grade XII Mathematics Award for highest achievement in Mathematics in this Collegiate. Tan Ross won first and Gary Merke second at the Safe Driving Contest in Beausejour on May 16. Ian won the Provincial Title on May 30 and will spend a week in Toronto to pursue the Dominion Title. Glen Kurian received a Special prize for selling the most subscriptions in a magazine drive to raise funds for the Student.

Church Auxiliary Meeting Indicates Successful Year
The Great Falls Community Church Auxiliary held its spring meeting on Monday May 31 in the Chapel of the Community Center with President Mrs. Vivian Sinclair chairing. Reports were read and the treasurer noted a $650 balance as election of a new executive installed Beatrice Coulombes as president C Bracken first vice president Delores LeRoy second vice president Beth Richardson treasurer and a ways and means committee appointed. A pew purchase plan was discussed with a committee of Andy Harpin and C Bracken to study costs and options. Past president Sinclair praised the group for their generous time and effort toward beautifying the chapel.

Canadian Wrestler Ray Lougheed Shines Across Europe
Ray Lougheed of Lac du Bonnet entered on a path from Manitoba champion to national titleholder and British Empire Games member. He wrestled for Canada in Cardiff 1958 and Rome 1960, placing eighth overall, and won the 1965 Saskatchewan lightweight title while aiming for future Canadian and Olympic success. He works as a CPR brakeman and trains in weightlifting as he pursues more championships and international competition.

Post Office Now Underway at Lac du Bonnet
The federal government awarded the Lac du Bonnet Post Office contract to Lanark Construction for 1830 square feet at 4572 dollars per year with a ten year lease. A second bid from Sonia Gorenstein for 1780 square feet at 4200 dollars was rejected as the higher bid better met other requirements. The present post office remains on a month to month basis until the new building is ready. Dr Joe Slogan MP announced the award and noted efforts to add offices for Farm Credit Corporation Veterans Land Act and Unemployment Insurance, which the government declined for now.

Lutheran Pastors Meet at Banff Conference
One hundred twenty Lutheran pastors from across Canada gathered at the Banff School of Fine Arts for a Confirmation Workweek May 10 14 to reexamine the rite long used in global congregations. Guest speaker Reverend Herbert Brokering of Minneapolis unveiled a new three year course of instruction to be rolled out this fall. Dr Gerhard Frost of Luther Seminary St Paul Minnesota also spoke on confirmation theology. Rev A Eppier of Redeemer Whitemouth and St Paul River Hills attended.
