Pine Falls Graduation Held on June 4
The Pine Falls Collegiate held closing exercises for Grade XI and XII at the Chateau on Friday. Valedictories were given by Frances Bachynski and Doug Lauchlin. Judge Hamilton delivered a school life themed talk and certificates were awarded to Grade XII and XI graduates. A midnight dance followed the ceremony with Allan Roche as master of ceremonies.

The community bids farewell to J. V. Jackson known as Pop who has retired and moved to Riverside Manitoba. A former Mill Stores staff member and 1934 Justice of the Peace he was active in the United Church and Sunday School with flower gardening as a hobby. A farewell fellowship was held May 30 with a presentation to him and his daughter May and Mrs. Smith.

Jungle Jaunt At School Ends With Wild Themed Hunt
Last Saturday a Jungle Foray took place near the mall area as younger students joined Miss W Flatt and Miss Ferguson on a Jungle Jaunt. Kids hunted in groups for pretend animals and caught fish imitations from trees. They cooked hot dogs and marshmallows, then returned for dessert. Prizes for costumes were awarded to Keith Bricknell, David Long, Margit Tuominen, Donald Anderson, and others.

The Manitoba Good Roads Association begins its 40th season with the Beautify Manitoba campaign. Two main contests award trophies for best kept municipal roads and for best kept town village or smaller center. Five classes in beautification cover towns and villages of all sizes. Judges include Percy Beachell and W J Graves with H G Wade secretary. Representatives will attend the Union of Manitoba Municipalities meeting on June 9 at Beausejour.

Mrs. John Abenstein died June 1 in a Winnipeg hospital at 85. Born in 19th century Canada, she lived in Sidney Nova Scotia Beausejour before settling in Lac du Bonnet area forty years ago. Funeral in Lac du Bonnet with Rev. E K Bissell presiding. Survived by two sons Carl and John and three daughters Mrs Peterson Seven Sisters Falls Mrs Fontaine and Mrs Lodge Lac du Bonnet along with 18 grandchildren.
