Lac du Bonnet lawn party and town notes July

On Monday evening July 15, Sheilagh and Alastair Jeffrey hosted a lawn party with colored lights and music from a gramophone. About 25 guests attended including Mrs B Lundquist and children Barry and Beryle. Others visited Lac du Bonnet, some touring the RCAF Air Show. The Eagle Cafe changed hands to Don Quong of Winnipeg. Local updates cover school board election of A Arsenault, prep on new school, and a parade of residents visiting Winnipeg, Red Lake, and Des Moines. The village incorporation notices were posted, and St John’s Anglican church held a christening for John Andrelmnas. Local cadets returned from two weeks at Cadet Camp amid plans for next year.

Private yachtsman to resume sea life this winter

Mr. Mattson, once an officer on the private yacht Elfrida before the war, plans to return to the sea and spend about a month in Florida this winter. Maureen Arsenault hosted friends after a show on the 12th for her birthday, and Ian Reid hosted a party for younger guests the following Saturday.

Mrs E H Anderstedt Mrs J Ulman and her twins Mary and Judith visited Pinawa. Alice Mathews and Helen Lags din are home for holidays. Albert Johnson returns from Port Radium and may not go back north. Several families welcome a baby boy in Pine Falls, while others travel to Bissett and Elma. Mr and Mrs Kuva welcomed a son July 8 at Pine Falls Hospital. Arnold Urban receives best wishes from the community.

Married at home and July party for Johnston couple

A couple wed at home on July 14. July 20 at Newcombe School House a surprise party honored Mr. and Mrs. Bill Johnston with luncheon and gifts from the district led by Vyvyan Burnside. Mrs. Johnston, formerly Helen Ericson, was a bride elect. dancing followed a grand evening as friends thanked organizers including Grandma Wold and Gordon Carlson.

Retired Farm Couple Welcomed To Beausejour

Mr and Mrs Peter Wilgosh long time residents of Beausejour were honored at a dinner party hosted by family and friends on June 30 to mark their move into town. A birthday greeting was sung for Mrs Margaret Wilgosh who turned 56 on June 25. Guests included the Wilgoshs relatives and neighbors who presented the couple with an electric radio as they begin life in their new home.
