Grim double murder suicide at Stead townhome
In Stead a 40-year-old McKenzie Donald killed his common law wife Alice Thomaslay, 30, with a .22 rifle and then shot himself. The pair were found in their home after a fellow worker reported Donald missing from his post as a CN R railway section man near Beausejour. Police and the coroner were notified.

Carpenter Berge Dies in Pointe du Bois Crane Accident
Norwegian immigrant Mr. Berge, a carpenter on the Slave Falls Power House extension, was crushed between a travelling crane and a steel column during a Saturday morning incident at Pointe du Bois. He died before rescue. Burial followed at St. James Cemetery on July 17. relatives reside in Norway.

Mrs Katherine Wuerch Dies at 74 in St Boniface Hospital
Katherine Wuerch 74 of St Quen's died July 14 in St Boniface hospital. Born in Poland she came to the United States in 1906 and farmed until her husband’s death. She remarried and moved to Winnipeg. Funeral at St Ouen's Pentecostal church with Reverends Vouga and Kawaliski. Survived by five sons David Wilhelm Johnathan Otto Gustave and four daughters Ruth Lily Emma Elsie. Buried in St Quen's cemetery. Arrangements by Russell Funeral Home.
