Seven Sisters Falls Bridge Party Honors Mrs Ambrose

Mrs H Leith hosted a small bridge gathering for Mrs G Ambrose with Ambrose presented a crocheted handkerchief. Raines won first bridge prize and Cinq Mars the consolation. Bruce Collis, 26, who worked here in summer and married into the Harris family, has died, sending condolences to Mrs Collis and family.

Public Meeting On Water Franchise In Lac du Bonnet

A public hearing will be held at the Municipal hall at 1 30 p m on Thursday July 27 by the Municipal and Public Utilities Board to consider a proposed franchise and by law agreement between the Village and Lac du Bonnet Water Co operative Limited. The outcome will decide if the domestic water supply becomes established. Residents and property owners are urged to attend.

Youngster Circus Aids Europe Children Fund

A three day circus in Lac du Bonnet run by 10 year old Ollie Brown and helpers raised 5.90 for the Crippled Children’s Fund. Assisting youths included Gaylord Hanneson Johnny Usakis and Michael Smith. Donations of pencils scribblers toys or face soap were welcomed at Mrs H Smith’s home for European children in need.

This Sunday July 23 a monster baseball tournament is being held in Beausejour drawing teams from the region. Local organizers tout a full day of games with competitive brackets and family activities.

Beausejour Baseball club won second money at Minnedosa’s 26 team tournament on Wednesday July 12. After five games the crew returned by chartered bus at 5 a.m. Beausejour defeated Franklin Basswood Gladstone and Belmont on the way to the final where Melita beat them. Players included J Coughlin R A Hayes R Dugard L Waryshyn T Harrison J Kaatz J Lopuk A Hayes L Bacall B Drysdale and Manager J I Ridley. Another tournament set for July 23 at Beausejour.

Mrs G Ambrose Honored at Farewell Party

A farewell party for Mrs. G Ambrose was held July 10 at the Seven Sisters Falls Community club with over forty guests from the area. The evening featured court whist, surprise gifts, and prizes for the court whist consolation winner Mrs. J Willick. Mrs Ambrose departs on the 39th after nearly thirteen years managing the staff house, moving to Lac du Bonnet to assist Mr Ambrose.

Picnic Gladden Beausejour Children at Hoban's Park

Beausejour United church Sunday school hosted its annual picnic at Hoban's Park on Wednesday July 5 with 30 mothers and more than 70 children present. The Rev J Berridge and G Nelson attended. Children enjoyed swimming and races with numerous winners across age groups and classes. A five dollar donation from Mrs Drysdale supported the Sunday school, and prizes were awarded for perfect attendance in April and June. Mr and Mrs Steve Jurek visited at his parents' home.

Nicholas J. Stryk died July 11 and was buried July 14 in Ladywood Greek Catholic cemetery. The Manitoba MLA for St Clements, born in Ukraine 54 years ago, taught at Ladywood for 29 years and was a lifelong Liberal. Survived by Elizabeth and several siblings. Eastern Manitoba tributes highlighted his decades of aid to neighbors.
