The Beausejour Busy Elves Sewing Club directed by Mrs J Bethel with Mrs H Hutton and Miss Frances Englett held Achievement Day exercises, showcasing sewing work and club activities.
Monday June 17 in the Grade VIII Room the program featured a welcome speech, choruses, piano solos by Marjorie Morfoot, readings, duos, quartette and a fashion parade of aprons dresses and blouses. Violet Englott won a week at the University next September. Certificates were awarded to Violet Englott Margaret Russell Ruth Mundt and Dorothy Frankowski. Plans for next year were announced with a rally day in SelKirk on September 2.
Beausejour and district notes record a successful Ladies' Aid tea raising over $35 for the church. a Bonar Law School District bazaar in support of starving children of Europe raising over $95. visitors from Brightstone Detroit and Regina. births including Nora Blossom to Mr and Mrs M Wright. a fall injury to Wm Keers leading to hospital. multiple trips to British Columbia Regina Nova Scotia Ottawa. twins born to Mr and Mrs H Smith. and various visits and travels of local families.
Great Falls notes July visits by Fergusson and others from Van couver Winnipeg and Justice plus relatives in St Norbert and Riverland. Community members attend Pioneer Camp twins Anne and Evelyn Fraser and a miscellaneous shower honors Mrs Ray Cairns. Weather reports include cold days and an earthquake on a Warm Day.
Beausejour hosted a packed July first celebration with thousands of visitors spending an estimated four thousand dollars. The Biz Day featured a parade led by No 10 District Depot Band, colorful floats, ball and softball contests, wrestling, gymnastics, and performances by the Victory Troupe. The Ukranian Male Voice Choir and other acts drew cheers as crowds enjoyed races, high jump, and tug of war amid a festive town atmosphere.
Canadian troops who fought through Holland during liberation will receive the souvenir book Holland and the Canadians, published in Amsterdam by the Canada Netherlands Committee. About 43000 copies were allocated for Canada and shipped to Army Public Relations Officers, with distribution based on priority requests.

The Pointe du Bois Community Club held its annual basket picnic at Slave Falls on the Ist. Children raced and played baseball while adults toured the Power House and observed new construction. Ice cream and drinks kept the youngsters cheerful as they viewed a later picture show. Miss Mulligan and Mrs. Flatt planned a trip to Ketchikan.
