Fire damages Lac du Bonnet garage for 33000 dollars
A blaze destroyed Kiziak's garage in Lac du Bonnet on January 21 causing about 33000 dollars in damage. The loss included a tractor two trucks three cars and garage equipment. Firefighters led by Chief Eugene Lavoie saved the adjacent Charles home and nearby fuel trucks from explosion while snow on roofs helped suppress the fire.

Lac du Bonnet Curling Club readies the eighth North Eastern Bonspiel with about ten clubs expected to compete for the Grand Challenge and Spring Field Leader Trophy. Prizes include the J. W. Wade prizes for runners up, Beaver Lumber Trophy for the event winner, and Winnipeg Electric Cup for third place. a newly revived Trophy will be contested in the first three games. Baby Born in Truck on Route to Hospital
A 6 lb 6 oz baby girl was born to Mr and Mrs Wohlgemuth of Whiteshell at 5 am Saturday January 23 while en route to Whitemouth hospital in a one ton truck. Mrs Wohlgemuth wore nightgown coat and flight boots. baby kept warm in her shirt. The couple were 15 miles from Seven Sisters when directed to Mr and Mrs C E Precious home for aid. Mother and baby are now in Whitemouth hospital in fairly good condition.
