Andrew Henderson and William Sudletsky were chosen as trustees from five nominees at the Whitemouth Consolidated school annual meeting held January 14 in the school auditorium. Henderson won a three year term while Sudletsky was re elected for two years. Reeve Ed Henderson presided as Henry Steiner, chairman of the school board, spoke on the year’s progress amid a large turnout.

Powerview council met January 6 with Mayor H J Parent and four councillors. Dr. Gerard Landry was confirmed as health officer for 1953. The annual 1952 assets and liabilities report was presented. Police protection contract with Manitoba Paper Co. was renewed. Vicious dogs and licenses posters were ordered. Mayor reviewed 1952 progress and 1953 plans, noting improved finances and urging village cooperation. Beausejour Hosts Winnipeg K of C Court Visit
Winnipeg Knights of Columbus 1107 journeyed to Beausejour for an evening of goodwill. A grand bowling tournament featured 45 participants, six games, and scores of 2700 and 2400 for the Winnipeg visitors. Beausejour hosts served a buffet lunch before the return trip.

Rev M Herbert Dies at Elma in Manitoba Parish Priest of La Salette
The Rev Father Michael Herbert missionary of La Salette and Elma Manitoba parish priest died at his Elma home on Friday January 16. Born in Poland October 15 1894 he arrived in the U S in 1926 and Canada in 1946. Surviving are siblings in Poland France and Argentina. Funeral and solemn High Mass will be held with archbishop presence and interment at St Marys cemetery Beausejour.
