A roundup of local religious services across denominations. St. Joseph National Catholic Church holds Sunday Mass at 11 00 am with evening prayers at 8 00 pm. St Marys Roman Catholic lists masses at 9 00 am and 10 38 am. St John Anglican Lac du Bennet observes Advent with morning prayer and sermon at 11 00 am and other services. Other churches note Sunday schools and afternoon services across Beausejour Garson and Tyndall locales.
St Pauls Lutheran Church Whitemouth announces Advent services on December 15 at 2 and 3 pm and December 22 at 10 and 11 am. A Christmas program is set for December 24 at 8 pm and Christmas Day service at 11 am. December 26 service at 3 pm, Sylvester service December 29 at 5 pm, and New Year’s Day January 1 1947 at 11 am. Rev E K Bissell incumbents at St Marys Anglican Pointe du Bois holds Advent Sunday 10 am Sunday School 11 am Morning prayer and Sermon.
Winnipeg church announces Advent services on December 10 11 am and December 22 2 and 3 pm plus a Christmas program at 5 pm on December 25 and a Christmas service at 3 pm on December 26 followed by a service at 11 am on December 29 and a Sylvester service at 5 pm January 1 1947 with a 3 pm service.
Weekly schedule for United Church Pine Falls lists Rev. John E Huffier as minister with services at 11.00 a.m. Sunday School and Adult Bible Class, 7.00 p.m. Evening Service, 6.15 p.m. Young Adult study, and a Wednesday 7.00 p.m. Trail Rangers mentoring by C Rempel.
The church holds its usual Sunday service at seven o clock with the congregation gathering for worship and prayer led by the pastor. Attendance is open to the community.
In Lac du Bonnet Santa Claus will arrive by plane after dinner on Saturday December 14 at 2:30 p.m. He will lead a parade down a route including Pioneer Corner, Petrus store, Sparman’s Garage, the Drug Store corner, and the Bus Depot. Santa will visit stores, check toy stocks, distribute candies, and read letters from children placed in his sleigh mail-box.
William Poti ewski of Springwell district died after falling head first from a hay load while chasing a cow. He fractured his skull and died Monday morning at St Boni face Hospital. Renshaw Funeral Home handled arrangements as the community expressed sympathy to Mr and Mrs Mills.
Ainslie Janet Mills age 1 year 1 month died after straying to a water hole on the Winnipeg River near her home in Lac du Bonnet. Stan Chester found her and transported her to a doctor but resuscitation failed. Funeral services were held in Lac du Bonnet and burial occurred at Elmwood Cemetery.
Pinawa Curling Club held its annual meeting in the Pinawa Recreation Hall on Wednesday night December 4. Officers elected for the year include Mark Wentz as president and Alex J Patterson as secretary-treasurer with W H Carter and K C Fergusson named as patron and honorary president respectively. Executive members elected were Howard Leith Walter Walsh Jack Thompson Jack Gibbins and Clark McLennan.

In Oldenburg district Rudy Malkoske, son of William Malkoske, was wounded when a .22 rifle discharged after snagging a fence wire while he chased a coyote. He was taken to hospital in good condition as RCMP officer Corporal Scully and Dr. Steindal attended.
Richard Gorjenson and Fred Anderson of Whitemouth spotted what looked like a buck with horns snagged in a tree root. On closer check they found it chained to a second large deer that was already dead. The animal was put down, and Gorjenson plans to display the heads at A. H. Cousins Garage in Whitemouth.
POINTE DU BOIS. The local Legion branch hosted a December 3 party with entertainment and dancing. Joe Apritchard and Mrs A J Moore Jr sang solos. a pie eating contest winner was Miss Flatt with Miss McLaren and George Oakley close runners. Barbershop style singing by Berry Palone, Bob Lipsey, and Jack Walker delighted the crowd alongside Jack Hawkes fun and Endre Cleven as MC. Sid Savory, Val and Art Hawkes provided music. Legion Auxiliary served a hearty lunch. Everyone hoped for a repeat soon.
The Wartime Prices and Trade Board announced a new order effective November 25 changing sales of concentrated milk products to a mark up basis. Wholesale markups are limited to 7 percent for evaporated milk, 8.4 percent for condensed milk, and 12 44 percent for other concentrates, with retail markups fixed under symbols F and G.
St Marys annual bazaar in Beausejour ended with a parish dinner on December 1. Prizes included a USA Ausco camera, shrine, desk lamp, cushions, Turkey entries, towels, and a picture, awarded to locals such as F Niznik Molson H Vogel Beausejour and L Obirek Tyndall among many others.

Manitoba motor license plates will switch to black on silver next year due to steel shortages. Only one plate will be issued this year. General advance sale of license plates will begin December 17, announced by Registrar R. B Baillie.

The Wheat Board offers 10 cents per bushel on the 1945 crop. Farmers take pink 1945 crop certificates to their grain elevator, who forward them to Winnipeg for checking and cheque payment. A receipt copy is given to the producer. Lost certificates will be handled by the Board.
The Beausejour town hall event on Friday December 6 boosted the treasury by 110 dollars thanks to member effort and civic cooperation. Door prize went to Bill Bethel. top scores won by Mrs M Einhorn and Bill Shuster. consolations went to Mrs R A Hayes and Martin Monetta. Shuster auctioned 100 cigarettes, with multiple bids returning prizes and adding to funds. Paul Rumak won the grocery hamper in the raffle.
Sinnott MP Jack Sinnott reports Ottawa Dept of Public Works advances on Springfield riding projects. Plans and specs are being prepared for RCMP barracks at Beausejour with bids expected soon, plus a new Victoria Beach wharf, wharf reconstruction, Lockport river curbing, Red River Canoe Club wharf work, and Grand Marais wharf reconstruction. Lac du Bonnet wharf repairs completed this summer. a report for major work is being obtained.
