Worona Brothers Ltd opened a new garage at First Street and MacArthur Avenue North Lac du Bonnet. The gala featured a showroom sales office parts department and space for nine cars. The event ran from morning till midnight with coffee doughnuts and music by the Tumbleweeds. Door prize winners included Loren Schinkel Mike Chikowski Louis Paul J. Lindgren Adeline Wasney and several others.
G Arnold Hart, chairman of Bank of Montreal, warned at the 148th annual meeting that Canadian chartered banks require freedom to compete or the financial system could be weakened. He urged removing the 6 percent loan rate ceiling and expanding banks lending powers, while stressing not to undermine others in the financial sector.
Alex Shevchuk of Whitemouth attended a Winnipeg seminar on education finance held by The Manitoba Teachers' Society. Ninety-five teachers from 48 division associations explored financing and administration problems while leaders urged reforms, better standards, and in-service training to solve rural shortages and improve education funding.
Arthur Lehman 21 of Sieg's Corner suffered serious injuries after a bracket under him gave way on the St Vital bridge project on November 30. He fell 45 feet to Red River ice, landed on his feet with help from a midair somersault, and was rescued by crane due to weak ice. He sustained multiple leg fractures and a back injury. the bridge was slated to open December 4.
Three teams from Pinawa Lac du Bonnet and Great Falls competed in a shooting event at the Pine Falls Armories on Saturday morning December 4 Dennis Thibeault Andy Harpin and Don Gréen accompanied the teams Marcel Le Mire Garry Oakes and Zennon Mendel la of Great Falls won first place with 84 points Lac du Bonnet scored 75 and Pinawa 70 Stan Gould of the Armories opened with a gun safety talk
At the Great Falls Recreation Centre meeting on November 29, the club elected officers for 1965/66 by acclamation led by President John Bracken. A payroll deduction plan for dues was approved, and plans covered recreation, cinema, bowling, and the annual Christmas party with a concert and Santa.
The Pine Falls Manitoba Paper Company celebrated its 18th Annual Dinner of the Charter Century Club on December 5. Seven new members received clocks for 25 years of service including Clayton Farmer Robert Lavallee Omer St. Croix Bill Sharpe Laverne Taylor Bill Van Toever and Charlie Frederick. About 100 attendees at Manitou Lodge Hotel.
The Great Falls Women’s Institute held its December meeting at the Curling Rink and hosted a Christmas party with over forty members and friends. The group pledged annual support to a Lac du Bonnet Community Scholarship, and gifts for Selkirk Mental Hospital patients were included. Next meeting January 6 will discuss officers and running the club.
