Wendigo Resort Destroyed by Fire Near Lac du Bonnet
A Wednesday fire at Wendigo Resort sixteen miles from Lac du Bonnet caused about 1 million dollars in damage to the year round lodge. Fire crews arrived after 8:30 a.m. and while the main concrete addition escaped major harm, the blaze ruined the timber sections. No guests were present in the lodge at the time, though trailer park and cottage residents were nearby.Owners Paul and Anna Boel began Wendigo Resort in 1959 and rebuilt after a 1964 fire. Investigation into the fire’s cause is ongoing.

Labor Minister Russ Paulley outlines the Manitoba minimum wage regulations effective November 1. Adults over 18 receive at least 1.65 per hour, under 18 at least 1.40. Snowmobile Driver Course Offered in Manitoba
Manitoba government announces a voluntary snowmobile operator training program for this winter. Public Works and Highways Minister Joseph Borowski says the initiative, authorized by recent genmmobiles legislation, will test public response and build experience in the new scheme. Instructors from the hunter safety network will run the courses, with a compiled list of instructors and more program details to come this fall. Health Services Promised For Lac Du Bonnet Area
An open meeting at Wendigo Lodge featured Dr T Tulchinsky and officials from Health and Social Development. Tulchinsky pledged to improve medical services and welcomed a health centre or small hospital as a solution. A delegation will meet within a month to craft a definite health care centre proposal, followed by a public Lac du Bonnet meeting.

Thieves Rob Casey's Inn In Sunday Night Break in
Thieves entered Casey's Inn during the night and fled with 3500 in cash. Mike Kabaluk checked the premises before bed at 1:00 a.m. and his wife found the area disrupted and the safe dial missing early Monday. Only the cash was taken. coins and papers remained. RCMP detachment investigates.
