Third Annual Hower Show Results at Lac du Bonnet
The Agassiz Horticultural Society held its third annual Flower Show on August 14 in Lac du Bonnet with judging on August 7 by Mrs. E Slipetz and Mr. R Dale. 315 entries, 100 first prize ribbons, 50 seconds, 69 thirds, and notable wins across Children's Gardens Home Grounds and Rural Grounds with awards to D J Taylor Pinawa and others.

Dedication of Lutheran Church in Lac du Bonnet
The Lutheran Church of the Cross Lac du Bonnet set Sunday September 5 at 2 30 p m for the Dedication service led by Dr Otto A Olson Jr president of the Central Canada Synod. A coffee hour follows. The church began in 1953 meeting in the Legion Hall and was organized on November 1 1959. Pastors Morris Green Edwin Bowen and James Peterson have served the congregation.

Schreyer to Open New Agassiz School Additions
Premier Edward Schreyer notified the Agassiz School Board that he will attend the official openings of the new Beausejour and Lac du Bonnet school additions this fall. The Whitemouth project is expected to be ready around January 1, 1972 and dates for public ceremonies will be announced when finalized.

Hardy Couple Celebrate 50th Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. V C Hardy celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a reception and dance on August 21 at Memorial Hall in Lac du Bonnet. The event featured corsage and boutonniere, a money tree gift, dignitaries and relatives from Canada and the United States, a family musicale, and a church service the following day.

Lakers Held Open Jump Tournament At Lac du Bonnet
The Lac du Bonnet Lakers Ski Club hosted an Open Jump Tournament on Sunday August 29 with four Manitoba clubs Betula Lake White Lake Riverside Club and Lac du Bonnet Lakers competing. Competitors had two jumps each with judges averaging the two best. Girls winner Mavis Young Betula Lake with 31 feet. Boys winner Jim Shearer White Lake at 60.5 feet. Continued on Page 8.

Werner Lake Residents Hurt in Car Mishap
Two women from Werner Lake Ontario remained in satisfactory condition at St Boniface Hospital after a three car crash Sunday night at Highway 59 and Almey Avenue North Kildonan. Evelyn Steinke 37 was a passenger in Wilbert Steinke 37’s car with their granddaughter Lisa Metcalf 2 also aboard. Police suspect a stop sign violation contributed to the collision.

Pinawa ladies held their first golf tournament on Sunday August 29. Ollie Hayduik shot an 80 to win the open with Pat Petrow close behind at 84. M Cole of St Boniface and H McKay also won. E Whitehead of Elmhurst won her flight, T Heaney runner up. D Backer and E Graham of Pinawa were low net winners. Other Pinawa winners included F Campbell, R Zanetto, P Langmore and D Thompson. Ernie's Bakery donated a trophy along with Beausejour Co op and J Castelaine.

The Department of Youth and Education states that Manitoba schools will open the day after Labour Day, this year on Tuesday September 7. New teachers should meet with principals before opening day for orientation. All schools start at 9:00 a.m. September 7 with student orientation. buses arrive at 12:15 p.m.
