Whitemouth Anglicans Plan 60th Anniversary
The 60th anniversary service for Christ Anglican Church Whitemouth is set for Thursday August 12 with Bishop H E Hives of Keewatin attending. Activities include an Order of Confirmation at 3:00 p.m. a tea from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. and an anniversary service with a short pageant at 7:30 p.m. The first service was August 22, 1905 conducted by Bishop Lofthouse.

Local Girls to Attend Youth Conference Assembly 65
Local girls from Lac du Bonnet and Pine Falls will join 300 delegates from Newfoundland to the Yukon at the National Council of KAIROS and National Anglican Youth Conference in Saskatoon August 16 to 23. The event gathers leaders observers and guests to discuss a reimagined church for youth and to guide delegates with five distinguished leaders including Jerry Gray Bob Bater Charles Hendry Michael Creal and Dimitrious Rousopoulos. First Canadian Commander Retires From RCAF
Wing Commander Martyn B. Anderson retires after a 24 year career as commanding officer of RCAF Station Beausejour Manitoba. He previously served four years with the U S Air Force at NORAD and led the DEW Line project. He leaves to become Personnel Officer at Manitoba’s Whiteshell Nuclear Research Establishment.

Pine Falls Horticultural Show Blooms This August
The Pine Falls annual Flower and Garden Show will be held Tuesday August 17 in the Pine Falls arena. Entries have grown yearly and organizers hope to set a record for quality and quantity. Ideal weather with plentiful moisture and sunshine has kept gardens beautiful with little infestation. Entries are due Monday August 16 from 6 to 9 30 p.m.

An annual Manigotogan and Hole River cooperative meeting held at Anglican Hall Hole River on August 3 drew 16 members chaired by Mr J Un rau. Guests included Mr W Kalinowski Selkirk field rep and Mr Peter Penner secretary of united co op Manitoba with Indian affairs reps Mr Joe Stefanson and Mr Ken Stowell. Financials showed a yearly profit. officers including Alfred Williams Leon Peters and Sidney Seymour were elected. International visitors Hug of Pakistan and Sarhai of India studied all co op activities and will visit Manitoba for three weeks.

The 28th annual North Eastern Manitoba open draws golfers and pros from Manitoba including Winnipeg Brandon Carman and Selkirk to Pine Falls. Lac du Bonnet Huskies defeat Pine Falls Canadians 10 to 4 in a sudden death playoff to claim the NEFL North Division championship. Both teams finished the regular season 15 and 3, Huskies overcoming a late rally with Rollie Larson on the mound and solid defense.
